Reality Blog: Taking Care of Your Writing Tools

As a writer, you know the obvious tools of the trade. Back in the day, it might have been a good pen and paper, or perhaps a typewriter.

Today, we all use a computer.

Keeping your computer up-to-date is important, if you want it to be a reliable tool. Sticky keys are easily replaced with a shiny new keyboard. And they’re pretty cheap in most cases.

That’s good… I go through a lot of them. Not necessarily from wear, though. I tend to spill stuff on mine now and then, if you know what I mean.

And, you need to keep your software up-to-date.

But… there are other writing tools that require upkeep and regular maintenance you may not have thought about. There’s one in particular that I’ve neglected and let fall into disrepair.

Without it functioning properly, it won’t matter how good my electronic devices work.

Here’s what it is… and what I’m doing to keep it functioning.

    Excellent article, Steve! This is a great reminder to me to get back into the exercise groove! Very helpful. Thanks for the insights and information about the effect of exercise on the brain. Breathing exercises incorporated with the exercise a good addition as well as yoga and meditation to calm the nerves as needed.
