The day did NOT start out well. It was a day working at my job, not at home writing.
Well, that was the plan this morning, but…
At 5:20 a.m., plans changed.
I hopped in the truck and headed down the street. But, the beast seemed to be driving oddly. Something wasn’t quite right.
I jumped out about a block from the house to check it out.
Dang it! Flat tire.
Not just low… “coming off the rim” flat.
I limped it back to the house, thinking I’d take momma’s car to work. Then, it hit me.
The tire needed to be replaced and now was the time to get ‘er done! So, after calling in to work to beg off for the day, I jacked up the truck and took off the wheel.
By now, you may be wondering, “Steve… what does this have to do with building a copywriting business?”
This morning’s fiasco made me pause and evaluate where I was in my own copywriting business. And it also drove home some lessons that I had to, well, relearn.
That unexpected flat tire, hobbling my truck in the wee hours of the morning, reminded me that:
- Procrastination will eventually bite you in the butt.
- Preparedness will win the day.
- A business that makes money will come in handy someday.
- And, make sure your tire shop has lots of coffee and a good Wi-Fi connection.
Okay… that last one might not be too important.
But, it helps.
Anyway, let’s examine those first three in light of the flat tire debacle. And we’ll start with procrastination.
