When it comes to clients, I find that I never have the same conversation twice.

There seems to be a lot of variety in terms of how clients communicate when they contact me for a potential project… and, in terms of what they expect from me in the beginning.

Just recently, I had three potential clients reach out and ask about working together. But, all three required something from me — time, money, or even a writing sample made just for them — before working with me.

Is this an unreasonable demand… a client red flag? Or, is it a good investment in future paid projects?
