We live in a world filled with information. We’re plugged in to everything going on around us. Our ancestors would envy the amount of information we have at our fingertips.
But we have to be careful.
Do you start your day looking at social media? How long do you end up spending there before you realize it?
Let me share a bit about what I’ve experienced and what I discovered about productivity as a result.
My sister with Cerebral Palsy recently went through a challenging change in her life. She flew the proverbial nest at 70 to enjoy the freedom of living on her own. Suddenly, she and my Mom both needed help and support.
Instead of starting my day as usual, I was drawn to Facebook Messenger like metal to a magnet. I had to check on Sis when I got up. She’s an early riser and heavily dependent on Messenger to communicate.
I don’t regret spending the time with her. Not one bit. That’s a big benefit of having a freelance job. However, I got off track and checked Messenger far too regularly. I abandoned my morning ritual and found myself getting less done.
I Needed to Re-Find Balance
We all tend to excel in one area of our lives, but often to the neglect of another. It’s easy to dive into your family and let work slide. Or get absorbed in your career to the sacrifice of health and exercise.
I struggled to find enough hours for all my priorities.
Then, through a mentor, I discovered the secrets that almost magically allowed me to be more productive in all THREE areas simultaneously!
