There’s no doubt that most of us have been affected by the hustle and grind of the self-improvement culture. People are always trying to get more done by being more efficient or using the morning routine of millionaires or studying Atomic Habits, for instance. It’s hard to stay grounded and happy when you’re always trying to improve yourself.

Who among us hasn’t listened at least once to the self-improvement gurus who want you to buy their course so you can become a better version of yourself.

It can sound very captivating. I’ve even found myself getting drawn in. But then I realized I was missing out on a lot of what life has to offer. Pulling back and taking an honest look at my life and business helped me come back into balance.

One criticism of the self-improvement industry is that it can make you feel worse about yourself if you don’t get the promised results. But it’s not really fair for you to compare yourself to someone who’s already made it, or to a young person with no family or children when you’re a busy mother of four.
